Like a Tree

Stand like a tree.

Full and green.

Grounded and still.

Unmoving.

You cannot care for yourself.

God cares for you.

Gentle rains water you.

Sunbeams give life.

Nutrients come into roots.

Winds cleanse and prune.

The tree does nothing but receive.

Be still today.

Receive as a tree.

God’s love and care

is always with you.

Trees and stones

will teach you what you

cannot learn from masters.

But blessed is the man who trusts

in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.

He will be like a tree planted by the water

that sends out its roots by the stream.

It does not fear when heat comes,

its leaves are always green.

It has no worries in a year of drought

and never fails to bear fruit.
