Sweet Vistas - From More Hope

Sweet Vistas

You are climbing a mountain.

It is big, difficult, all-consuming.

You can only take one step at a time.

You keep your eyes on your feet.

Take a deep breath.

For a moment take your eyes

off of your mountain.

Look out at the vista around you.

The bigger picture might surprise you.

See the people who love you.

Remember your favorite place.

Look far out to a time of goodness.

See how far you have come!

The difficulty of the climb

can make the view even sweeter.

Psalm 121:1-2

I lift my eyes up to the hills -

where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord,

the Maker of heaven and earth.

Nelson Mandela

I have taken a moment here to rest,

to steal a view of the glorious vista

that surrounds me, to look back

on the distance I have come.

But I can only rest for a moment,

for with freedom comes responsibilities,

and I dare not linger,

for my long walk is not ended.
